Established in 1999, Martyn Powell Landscapes provides landscaping services in Cheltenham and are members of the Horticultural Trades Association. We are also approved by the Association of Professional Landscapers, one of only two landscape companies in Gloucestershire.
Our areas of expertise include garden design and all aspects of garden construction for projects of all sizes. Martyn offers a professional, reliable and trusted service with trained and experienced staff.
He will also guide you from concept through to completion using his creative knowledge and skills, especially taking care of the individual requirements of each client and garden.
Garden Design
From initial concept ideas to detailed planting plans. We aim for each of our gardens to be unique.
For gardens with slopes or difficult levels we also do laser level surveys so as to maximise useable space and create realistic quotes.
Hard Landscaping
Because we build what we design, we know what’s been put on paper is achievable.
Hard landscaping is the structure within the garden including walls, fences, pergolas, patios, decking and also paths. We own all our own equipment, including narrow access digger and dumper, this ensures more adventurous and feasible projects.
Soft Landscaping
This is often the most exciting part of any garden design project!
The planting of a garden takes just as much expertise as hard landscaping.

I want to say how pleased we are with the garden. From the moment we started planning the new landscaping you have been so professional, taking onboard our requirements, listening to our concerns and turning them into an achievable design.
Then coming on-site and preparing the area all went according to the well thought-through plan. Craning materials over the top of the house was the only option in our case and you arranged that meticulously.
Finally laying the paving to take account of the drainage away from the house, creating the raised beds and the garden planting all were superb.

Martyn, Michelle and team did an amazing job on our garden and are lovely people to deal with. Martyn works collaboratively at the planning stage to balance costs vs. design vision and checks in throughout the build in case there are any tweaks or changes you want to make.
He is detailed with his pricing so comes in on budget - I’ve had a lot of seemingly cheap quotes in the past that have escalated on the job and the quality has been poor.
The standard he sets when choosing and installing materials is second to none, whether it's soil delivered from the other side of the country to counteract the Cheltenham clay or making sure the pad for the patio could withstand the weight of a house!
There were a few unexpected challenges on our job but they didn’t phase the team and they were quickly resolved. One year on from installation our garden looks stunning!

Martyn’s challenge was to transform the rear garden of the property I had bought which had been let for the last 20 years and was rather unloved, it was very overgrown and lacked any interest.
60 tons were taken away revealing a lovely space and blank canvas. Martyn's designs were inspirational and together we worked on an affordable budget with options. Once the ground was cleared it made sense to have the option of replacing the lawn and associated ground works.
Martyn and Michelle worked incredibly hard, most days in lovely weather but even when the rain came they still worked on. The site was always left tidy and with little disruption to me.
Words can hardly express how overwhelmed I was with the planting plan, it was beyond anything I could ever have thought of. Martyn knows his plants and trees well and where everything will compliment each other. I cannot wait till the spring and summer to see it all flourish and bloom.
The transformation certainly has the wow factor and has already been much admired by friends.
